Ultimate Snowboard Movies
There have been a lot of movies over the years which have featured mountains covered in snow, probably the most famous of these was Touching the Void, which was about two young rock climbers who attempted to climb to the summit of Siula Grande which is located on the Peruvian Andes. They actually reached the summit, it was only on their descent that things started to go very wrong. It is a true story which really gets the viewer thinking, not only that but it is also a true story.
There are lots of homemade videos on the internet which relate to snowboarding most of them show people in various ridiculous situations, and are of more a funny nature. But all the Snowboards are state of the art.

There are a few suggestions on the web, non of them have made box office hits, but one keeps coming up again and again. This is Double Decade, most of the people who have seen this film recommend it as one of the greatest snowboarding movies of all times. There are lots of movies which have made it to box office hits which have had snowboarding in the background. Bridget Jones Edge of Reason was one of them, although it was mainly skiing in the movie, somewhere in the background there is someone snowboarding (blink and you could miss it).
Although there aren’t many famous snowboarding movies, snowboarding, is a popular sport, and is also known as an extreme sport, where many snowboarders seek out high free fall slopes for the ultimate thrill of snowboarding. Teenagers have picked up on the fact that it is much more cool to snowboard than ski, and it has a ‘rock star’ sort of image that goes with being a snowboarder. Snowboarding is much like skateboarding, apart from it is one snow, but a lot of the moves done in snowboarding are very similar to that of a skateboarder. In snowboarding there is the Ollie, which is also done in Skateboarding – this is when you keep both feet on the snowboard whilst jumping over an object. There are also:
The 50/50 Grind is where you perform a trick on something other than snow such as a box or a rail.
A Rock and Roll Grind is very similar to a 50/50 Grind, the idea is to keep the snowboard parallel with the rail whilst grinding. To do this move effectively consider your approach and balance and get the timing of the move right.
Performing a 180 degree turn at both the start and the end of a rail is also known as a 180 Grind. If you know your Ollie you should be a master at this.
When the snowboarder descends whilst moving from one slide of the slop to the other, he is doing what is known as traversing.
There are also half pipe tricks which are not for the beginners and enable the snowboarder to perform tricks in the air whilst moving. There are many of these tricks and most of them can be found on home movies which have been posted on the internet. There are DVD’s which also have lots of the above mentioned tricks in them.
These DVD’s can be bought via the web in online Snowboard Shops, which also sell merchandise such at Nitro Snowboards and Burton Snowboards, along with other essentials.
