Movies featuring Pepper

When asked to write about movies featuring pepper I though that I would really struggle to find movies which featured a pepper mill. I thought through the movies I had watched with scenes with people sat eating, and I found that there was quite a few movies which did feature pepper mills on the tables. The first I found was the film When Harry Met Sally, featuring Meg Ryan (as Sally) and Billy Crystal (as Harry). The film is based on the topic ‘can men and women ever be just friends’. During the film there is a scene in a café and on the table there is a basket full of condiments on the table, with pepper in it. There are also knives (Messer) and forks on the table.

pepperThe next film I chose was Pretty Woman, this film is centred around a prostitute (Julia Roberts) and a wealthy business man (Richard Gere) who meet on Hollywood Boulevard and fall in love. There is a scene in the film where Richard Gere takes Julia Roberts to a posh restaurant for a meeting with some of his business rivals, on the table in this scene is a pepper mill (Pfeffermühle).

Rocky Balboa is the next film I chose, in this film Rocky owns a restaurant, telling his story to all in the restaurant who want to listen to his story. In the restaurant there are tables with salt and pepper on all of the tables.

Mrs Doubtfire – This is a great film where the father is banned from seeing his children, so he poses as a jolly nanny to gain access to them, the film is hilarious and in one part there is a scene in a restaurant with his ex-wifes new boyfriend and himself, that is the best part of the film. On the table in the restaurant the waiter comes across and offers pepper to the guests.

The last film I have chosen is Dirty Dancing, where baby and her mum, dad and sister are all sat having breakfast one morning, and in front of them on the table are pepper mills, spoons, forks and knife.

On looking closer at this subject, the idea of pepper in films is not as unusual as it seems, most films have some sort of eating scene in them, so the odds are that the film is going to feature pepper in it somewhere along the line.
